HISTORY: Her days prior to college are hazy. She has an older sister, Alicia, who currently resides in redneck country, but that's as much of the past you'll get of her. She was good friends to both Vlad and Jack, completely unaware of the secret love triangle she was in. Vlad harbored a love for her, but she instead fell for Jack. Their marriage occurred after the mini-Ghost Portal face-raped Vlad during the first testing (an accident on Jack's part), rendering him incapable of doing anything aside from resting and being bathe by nurses.
She and Jack moved to Amity Park where they built their numerous Fenton gadgets, patenting them to bring in the money. Eventually, they had two children: Jazz and Danny. Motherhood hadn't deteriorate her skills in combat or her love for ghost hunting, but she portrays a much straighter concept of parenthood then her husband, providing a solid figure when Jack's cuckoo-clockness gets too much for their children.
Like Jack, Maddie reunites with her old buddy in their 20th college reunion, but is unaware that Masters and Plasmius are the same people. That does not stop him from wooing her in "Maternal Instinct" when he invited her and Danny to his Colorado-ridden cabin. There he confesses his undying love and asks both to stay. Naturally the proposition is rejected and she leaves, vowing to keep this a secret between her and Danny—telling Jack would only cause disaster. Though she praised Vlad and let bygones by bygones when he "rescued" Danny during Pariah's reign, she hasn't inserted much of a kind word towards him, remaining livid and cautious on his many goals and mannerisms.
She plays a big role in "Girls' Night Out", helping her daughter and Sam fight off three female ghost bitches hell-bent on keeping their created menfree world. She later contributes to a giant contraption that would phase the entire planet from a harmful asteroid. During this segment, she (among many) learned of her son's secret. She accepted it in full. ("Phantom Planet")
Maddie suffered an alternate history (besides "The Ultimate Enemy") where she became Vlad's wife instead of Jack's. Wanting to alter time so Vlad would never get his powers, Danny traveled to the 80's and pushed him out of the way of the Porta-Portal's Ecto-beam. Unfortunately he did not see it ricocheting off and blasting Jack instead, resorting him to be Jack Plasmius (I know, bear with me). Unlike Vlad, he had no malicious intentions and instead helped Danny reunite him with Maddie whom loved him during her hellish years with her dominating husband. She conquered Vlad after he killed Jack, then sends Danny to Clockwork who fixed the mess he created. ("Masters of All Time")
PERSONALITY: She's the straightforward mother to Jack's outrageous father. She's down-to-earth and is prone to thinking calmly (and clearly) then her wayward husband—the silent yin to his raging yang. It's evident Maddie provides better parenting and normal structure to the Fenton clan, the realist so to speak. That doesn't mean she isn't gung-ho about the many Ecto-denizens that wander into her life. She, too is willingly giddy to work on Fenton gears and is rather trigger-happy when the situation arises. She can get just as childish as Jack when she really gets into it and is one-sided when it comes to ghosts.
She manages to balance motherhood and her job easily.
OPINION: She isn't as interesting as Jack. Her easy take as a mother and a ghost hunter seems to give her more strengths then weaknesses. Unlike Jack, she's much more competent and if it wasn't for her shallow view on ghosts and her often gun-happy status, I'd say she's the closest to being a Canon Sue (yes, even against Sam). She’s generally garnered an "I don’t care or mind what she does onscreen" reaction from me and that still holds true today. I just wished she didn't act like such a big child in "Girls' Night Out"; acting more like her husband then her usual aggression.
But she’s a damn fine MILF.
