HISTORY: Box Ghost’s first (but definitely not last) meeting with Danny lasted all about two minutes. Even upon first contact, Danny couldn’t take him seriously and though Box Ghost tried, he was bested and was properly sucked. The only reason he even escaped is because of Tucker’s foolishness. Though he is proud of his chosen profession, he once changed his named to the "Mechanic Frog Ghost" until it backfired on him. Sticking to what he does best, Box Ghost has successfully cameo in several episodes: as an escaped prisoner, Skulker’s unwilling life bait, a surprisingly competent fighter against Pariah Dark, and saver of Christmas as well as various other little cameos—including the finale episode ("Phantom Planet")where he helps Danny save the world from an asteroid.
Box Ghost briefly appears in an alternate future where his comical demeanor is replaced by a rugged, darker version of himself. One who is completely handy in battle and mannerisms—a maddening contradiction to his past, lighter counterpart.
His only major episode is "Boxed Up Fury". Frustrated on how little he is taken seriously (Walker’s WANTED Poster of him is a meager $2.50—very sad), Box Ghost attempts to upgrade his image, but sandwiches and shoes from their respective boxes have little impact on society as a whole. So he decides to take the ultimate box of disaster: Pandora’s Box. Abuse of the mythological legend aside, Box Ghost succeeds in turning Amity Park into his own personal Hell—finally giving Danny a run for his money. His victory is short lived when Pandora herself drops in and promptly beats his ass after a distraction. To amend for his actions, Box Ghost is forced to perform various chores for her. His only victory is that his WANTED poster raised to $50 dollars. Still sad.
PERSONALITY: A determinator to the full, Box Ghost spares no expense trying to be a successful villain, but without much pomp and flair. His obsession for boxes are hardly a worthy threat to Danny or any foes and his comical personality is his other faulty factor. He is painfully aware of this and this only causes him to strive harder. If anything, Box Ghost is the eternal optimism with enough confidence who believes he can succeed in lengths. Box Ghost is thoroughly comfortable with who he is and much like Tucker, his moves may be unpopular, but he tries his darnest to keep at it.
Till then, we can always root for the little trooper…or laugh, whatever side you’re on.
OPINION: I really wished "Boxed Up Fury" wasn’t made. Box Ghost is the kind of character that’s best left as Running Gag material. His personality is strictly one-noted and simple that any maddening complication is best left in fanfictions. Granted, nearly all the villains have a straight forward personality one way or the other, but unless the writers were ever plan to ante up his inferior challenges, his time as a pathetic, but ever-so-tenacious villain is charming and entertaining. He’s the little ghost who thinks he can and while that episode showed he can, it reformed everything back to Status Quo and thoroughly wasted half and hour exploring that he just can’t.
Which is ironic. Box Ghost’s threat levels may be teeny at best, but he possesses a ghostly powers most others don’t have or use: telekinesis. He can move material objects with ease. Boxes may be common usage, but so are the contents inside. At one point, he chucked scapels at Danny—scapels! He also proved to be a worthy fighter in "Reign Storm". I think the problem with him is not so much a clumsy, laughable strategy, but that he’s not realizing the potential within himself. He’s confident in his life, but he’s stuck in his little niche cirlce that he has yet to understand that he can do more then just boxes. He can literally use whatever blunt object is available to him. Trees, benches, parking meters, other weapons could be deadly weapons in his possession if he gets his mind beyond harmless cardboards and bubble wraps. Alas, when he built a reputation for himself, it became a part of him and it’s hard to let go.
The only time he ever became a serious threat was his future self, but that was an alternate route, though if "Masters Of All Time" is any indication, the future can produce similar/close enough fates. For the time, Danny is safe knowing Box Ghost can’t really think outside the box.
